The lesson

Today we start a new topic: What Are Attributes of God? Attributes are like God's special marks. They tell us what God is like. God showed these attributes when He created the world and everything in it — the sun, the animals, and even us! First, God is loving. He cares for us like a good parent. He gives us family, food, and each new day. God is also holy. That means He is pure and perfect. He is different from anything else — He is completely good. God is just. He always does what is right and fair. When someone is treated badly, God sees it and will make things right. Finally, God is omnipresent. That's a big word! It means God is everywhere — at your home in Nairobi, in the village by Lake Victoria, and even here in our classroom. You can never be too far from Him. Here in Kenya, we see God's attributes every day. In our families we see His love. In our churches we see His holiness. In our communities we see His justice. We know He is with us everywhere — omnipresent. Let's remember these four attributes as we continue learning.

Class, as we finish our lesson today, let's close with a short prayer. This is a special time to thank God and think about how we can see His love and fairness every day. Let's thank God for who He is. He is loving, holy, just, and always with us. In your heart, thank God for His love. Thank Him that He is fair. Thank Him that He is always by your side, even when you are at school or at home. This week, I want you to look for one example of God's love, one example of His holiness, one example of His justice, and one example of His presence. Maybe you see love when a friend helps you. Maybe you see justice when a teacher treats everyone fairly. Write these down or share them with your family. Let's pray together now: Dear God, thank You for Your love, holiness, justice, and presence. Please help us to show love and fairness to others this week. Amen. Great job, everyone! God bless you.

Worked examples

God Is Loving

At the title: God Is Loving. God's love never ends. The Bible tells us in John 3:16 that God loved the world so much that He gave His only Son. That's how deep His love is for each one of us. She had plenty of food from her farm, but she saw a neighbor who was hungry. She shared her harvest. That is God's love in action — loving others the way God loves us. God loves us just like a loving parent cares for their child. He protects us, provides for us, and always wants what is best for us. Because God first loved us, we can share that love with others. When you help a friend or share your snack, you are showing God's love. Remember: His love never ends!

God Is Holy

Next, let's learn about an important truth: God is holy. That's a big word—let me explain what it means. Holy means perfect, pure, and set apart from sin. Imagine something so clean and special that nothing dirty can touch it. That's who God is. Here's a Kenyan example: before entering a church, we remove our shoes. Why? Because we respect that God is holy. This shows we know He is special and pure. Because God is completely good, He cannot be near sin. Here's the good news: we can become holy by following God's commands. That means we try to be pure and do what is right, just like He is. Remember: holy means perfect and set apart. God is holy, and He wants us to live in a way that shows respect for His holiness.

God Is Just

Have you ever heard someone say 'That's not fair!'? God is always fair. Let's find out what that really means. The word 'just' means fair and right. When we say God is just, we mean God always does what is fair and what is right. He never cheats or plays favourites. Let's think about a teacher – Teacher Mwangi. If two students give the same correct answers, Teacher Mwangi gives them equal marks. That's fair! God is even more fair than any human teacher. He sees every good thing and every wrong thing, and He handles each one perfectly. God punishes what is wrong and rewards what is good. Here's the amazing part – God is also merciful. Even when we do wrong, He doesn't punish us as much as we deserve. He gives us chances to say sorry and start again. That's why we can trust God to judge fairly – He knows everything about us. Remember, God is just. He is fair, He sees all, and He is merciful. You can trust Him to always do the right thing. Let's talk about fairness in our own lives.

God Is Omnipresent

Who can tell me what 'omnipresent' means? Omnipresent means God is everywhere at the same time. Think about it — not just in one place, but everywhere. He is in your home, in your school, and even in faraway places like Turkana. At these examples: God is in your home, in your school, in the market, and in the remote villages of Turkana. There is no place you can go where God is not there. That is a wonderful truth. Notice this line: 'You cannot run away from God's presence.' That can be comforting — it means you are never alone. God is with you everywhere, always. Remember: God is everywhere. Whether you are at home helping your mum, playing at school, or visiting your grandparents in the village, God is right there with you.

Review and Memory Help

Great work, class! Let's review the four attributes of God we've been learning about. Who can name them? First, God is loving — He cares for us like a parent. Second, He is holy — perfect and pure. Third, He is just — always fair. Fourth, He is omnipresent — that means He is everywhere, even in your home in Nairobi! Here's a memory trick: L-H-J-O — 'Like Holy Jesus Omnipresent'. You can also make your own fun sentence using these letters. For example, 'Loving Holy Jesus Omnipresent'. See if you can remember it!
